University of Scranton Undergraduate Commencement
The University of Scranton conferred more than 890 bachelor's and associate's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Very Reverend Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, read the remarks of the principal speaker Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, who was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he is undergoing treatment for a form of acute leukemia. Both Father Kesicki and Bishop Murry, in absentia, received honorary degrees from the University. Honorary degrees were also presented to Sister Ann Walsh, I.H.M., former CEO and current assistant director of Friends of the Poor; William Whitaker, founding president of the Washington Jesuit Academy, Washington. D.C.; and Cecelia Lynett Haggerty, Times-Shamrock Communications and former University trustee.

Student Pharmacists from Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy Participate in Pharmacy Legislative Day, Present Informational Board
Wilkes University student pharmacists Rachel Wood and Katelyn Jimison from the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy, participated in the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association annual Pharmacy Legislative Day on April 16. Held at the Capital Complex, over 250 students attended to help fight for fair reimbursement. While there, they presented an information board on medication disposal. It explained the importance of proper medication disposal while handing out bags which are used to safely dispose medications.

Wilkes University Students Elected to Student Government, Class of 2018
Seniors at Wilkes University were elected to serve the Wilkes community as members of the student government. Student Government is the major decision- and policy-making organization for the student body at Wilkes University, providing student input on University policy and governing extracurricular life at Wilkes. These students are asked to represent the entire student body, acting as a liaison between the students and administration. They plan and coordinate activities on campus, and promote fellowship, scholarship, and the name of Wilkes University.

Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy Awarded the Student Public Relations and Awareness Award at Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Annual Conference
Wilkes University's Nesbitt School of Pharmacy was awarded the Student Public Relations and Awareness Award at the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Annual Conference on Sept. 23. The conference was held at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, Pocono Manor. The student group received a commemorative plaque and a $200 cash prize for their organization.

Kutztown University and the Kutztown University Foundation have named 30 students as Presidential Ambassadors for the 2017-2018 school year.
